The Dr has recommended that we start the girls on cereals. We've bypassed the rice cereals and moved directly to oatmeal (pooping issues!) and the girls have taken to it like a duck to water (their poops have been fantastic in case you were wondering. I know - I'm obsessed with pooping!)

Halloween tasties

I always like to take the opportunity to show off the Australian cuisine (excuse me? yes I said it, cuisine!) so in an attempt to educate my American friends on the power of Copha, I made chocolate crackles! (Well, actually in the spirit of Halloween I made Spider crackles.) Next time I'll use licorice for legs instead of pipe cleaners but the concept was there.

See the spider crackle with no legs? This is what happens when you miscalculate pipecleaners - 8 legs per crackle really adds up!

I also saw this great idea for a dip holder (cauliflower) on some website and we managed to freak quite a few trick-or-treaters out asking them if they wanted some "brain dip"? The majority said no but some younger kids were quite brave and tried it. Looked great and because I filled it with a yummy garlic dip to ward off the vampires, it tasted great too!

Side-by-side

So one afternoon I couldn't get either girl to settle down and sleep so we spent some time in their bedroom putting away clothes etc and I thought I could finally get a pic of them side by side!

So we have a weight difference of course but don't you think they look a little bit alike? The eyes especially?

I thought that I would get in on the action and take a photo of me and the girls via a happy snap! Well did you think that I could get myself into a position that I didn't feel was going to break one of the girls legs? Of course not so I just snapped away and lo and behold this is the best one that didn't show a triple chin but it does almost show my brain via my nostrils!

I love how the girls are smiling so much now. Of course it's Murphy's Law that the smiling can only be captured on film like once in a blue moon but I managed to get a couple of Kendall smiling after her bath and a couple of Sydney smiling in the bath.

Makes my heart just melt...

Hallowweeeennnn!

Yes, finally Halloween came. We went to the Galvins to spend Halloween about 4.30pm. BJ and Leanna invited us all over for chili before the candy free-for-all began!

I had them in their halloween daytime outfits all day. Doesn't Kendall look like she belongs on the docks?

And when I put Sydney's cap on her I was struck by how much she looked like Kendall from weeks ago. It's amazing how that hemangioma on her forehead really makes her, her (if you know what I mean!)

Kendall got dressed up as a love bug and Sydney was a ladybug. Note that I didn't get many pics of Kendall so the ones of her were actually taken afterwards (like a week!) because I didn't realize my mistake (and hence why this posting is coming so late after halloweeeeennn!

Scrappin' away the weekend

So the girls (Kerri, Shauna, Heidi) and I finally got together to spend some quality time scrapping our fave pics. Well I don't know how much scrapping got done but we had a great time chatting, eating and just hanging out.

We all had a great time looking at the pics that we had and talking about the stories behind them and of course I had so many pics of the girls to scrap so that's where I started.

When I looked at the pic that Storm took of my first look of the girls after their birth, it just brings back such memories. Kendall was the first baby to be delivered and in that moment between knowing she was out of me and her first cry I swear it was forever. I just waited and waited for what seemd to be an eternity and then she cried and I had tears in my eyes. In that moment I knew I was a mum.

Sydney took longer to cry and I just kept saying "breathe sweetheart, breathe" until she did. When the nurse showed me the girls I didn't know who was who as I was suffering by that time. My throat was so dry and the anesthetic had made my nose all blocked so I was having trouble breathing but I still kissed one of them (tummy juices and all!)- not sure who and told the nurse to get them to the NICU pronto. The next time I saw them after that was in their humicribs later that night using a wheelchair as a walking assistant as I couldn't straighten up after the c-section.


I loved the metal squares with baby imprints on them and bought them several years ago knowing that one day they'd be on my kid's pages.


Here's one titled "Grandma's Girls" with my mum and the girls. These colours I'm not really comfortable working with as I'm more of a neutrals kind of chick so it was a step out of my comfort zone. Every time I see it I'm liking it more but it will still take some time for me to get used to it.

So here is another step out of my comfort zone with a pink page. I know that I have girls so it's going to be pink all the way eventually so I thought I'd get a head start. So it's Kendall in the bath.

And last but not least - my pastel page. Heidi and I have both moaned that pastels are just not our thing but I am embracing it head on and dragging out my pastel brads...


It's a shame but you can't really tell that the writing is done in pink glitter. I really am glad that I have girls instead of boys. It's going to bring out my inner princess!

The colours of Mt Charleston

So autumn/fall has now come to the valley - well Mt Charleston at least! A quick 35 minute drive from home and we find ourselves at elevations rivalling Mt Kosiosko (I know spelling...). We've never really been up there at this time of year (we really only go during winter time for the snow or summer to escape the heat and eat outside!) so we were surprized with the colours there. It may be a dry olive green colour mixed in with ochre and sandy colours too down here in the valley but up there there were yellows, oranges and reds. I managed to snap off a few shots but missed the light on some trees that were just amazingly yellow when we drove up. Very cool.




I found this view very interesting. It looked like a yellow flower lava stream coming down the mountain!


So we had lunch at the lodge (as usual!). Kendall slept while I fed Syd next to the fire. We passed Syd around while we all ate and took pics as we finished our meals. I had the coffee as usual for a drink. Man I love the coffees up there.



Out the front of the lodge are some small market stalls with native american (I know so p.c.) markets. Mavis looked at some things while I snapped a quick one of Stormy and then a couple of the two of them together.



Kendall needed her lunch on the way back down the mountain. We've discovered that the minivan is not low enough to be really comfortable to perch a baby on your knees to feed. Storm and I swapped a couple of times before Kendall was done.

While we were stopped the were some ratty (but nice in a desert type of way) flowers on the side of the road. I took some pics of them and also tried to get arty with the lens to take pics of a tree or two. I said I tried..!!!!

My little thumb sucker

So both of the girls have taken to sucking on their thumbs/fingers. Kendall more so than Sydney.

Kendall really goes to town on her thumb while Syd prefers her index finger.

It's not a thing that I would like to encourage (I can always throw a pacifier away and deal with the tantrums than try to break a thumb sucking habit!) but it's just so darn cute!
